Photo Booth Hire in Hampshire: Everything You Need to Know Before You Book

An expert guide from Party Delights Photo Booth
Photo Booth Hire in Hampshire: Everything You Need to Know Before You Book
If you’re thinking about hiring a photo booth for your wedding, party or corporate event, you’ve probably already discovered there are a lot of options. Digital or printing? Three hours or all day? Do you need a backdrop? Will your guests actually use it? And how do you know you’re choosing the right company?
These are the questions we hear every week at Party Delights Photo Booth, so we wanted to put the answers in one genuinely useful guide.
We’re based in Basingstoke, Hampshire and have been creating photo booth experiences since 2017. After more than 1,500 events, over 200 five-star reviews and relationships with more than 30 recommended or partner venues, we’ve learnt a lot about what makes a photo booth work brilliantly at an event – and what you should think about before you book.
Whether you’re planning a wedding in Hampshire, an event in Berkshire, Surrey, Wiltshire or West Sussex, or a corporate celebration elsewhere across the South of England, here’s what we think you really need to know.
Is Hiring a Photo Booth Really Worth It?
For us, a great photo booth isn’t simply about taking photographs. It should add something to the atmosphere of your event.
At weddings, your photographer captures the important moments beautifully. Your photo booth captures a completely different side of the day: the group of friends who haven’t all been together for years, grandparents joining in, evening guests arriving, and the photographs that become increasingly funny as the night goes on.
One question couples sometimes ask us is whether their guests will actually use the booth. It always makes us smile because we’ve seen the same thing happen at so many events: someone says they’re only having one photo, then an hour later they’re back with a completely different group.
For corporate events, a photo booth can do even more. It can become entertainment, a branded guest experience and a way of creating content people genuinely want to share. The important part is choosing an experience that fits the event rather than simply putting a camera in the corner.
Digital or Printing Photo Booth – Which Is Right for You?
This is probably one of the most useful decisions to make first, and neither option is automatically better.
If you want something modern, relaxed and available for longer, our All-Day Digital Photo Booth is a brilliant option. Your guests can capture photos, GIFs and boomerangs and share their creations digitally. Because it is designed as an unattended experience, it can also be available for much more of your celebration than a traditional evening booth.
If you love the idea of your guests leaving with something physical in their hands, our attended Printing Photo Booth gives you that extra moment. There is still something lovely about watching a photograph appear and taking it home from a wedding or event.
And when we say unlimited prints, we mean everyone in the photograph can receive a copy. If six people squeeze into one photo, all six can take one away.
For a wedding, ask yourself whether you love the idea of printed keepsakes or whether you prefer a longer digital experience. For a corporate event, think about how you want guests to interact with the experience and whether digital sharing, physical branded prints or a combination of the two works best.
How Much Does Photo Booth Hire Cost – and What Should You Compare?
Price is naturally one of the first questions people ask us, but it is also where comparing photo booth companies can become confusing.
The cost depends on the type of booth, how long you would like it for, whether printing is included, whether an attendant is required and whether you choose additions such as a backdrop, neon sign or guest book.
Rather than looking at the headline price alone, check what you are actually receiving. Is setup included outside your live hire time? Is there an attendant? How are your images delivered? Are the designs personalised? How many prints do guests receive? Is there an online gallery? Are there additional charges you need to know about?
At Party Delights Photo Booth, setup and takedown are outside the live hire period. If you book an attended booth for three hours, those three hours are for your guests to enjoy the booth – not for us to build it.
That is why we always recommend comparing the whole experience rather than simply choosing the lowest number.
How Long Should You Hire a Photo Booth For?
For many weddings and parties, around three hours is a really good amount of time for an attended photo booth. But the timing matters just as much as the length.
At a wedding, the evening reception often works beautifully because dinner and speeches are finished, evening guests have arrived and everyone is ready to relax. At a corporate event, the best window may be around guest arrivals, networking, an awards programme or the main evening entertainment.
If you want guests to dip in and out throughout more of the day, our All-Day Digital Photo Booth can be a better fit.
After working at so many different events, we don’t believe there is one perfect timetable for everyone. Your venue, guest numbers and running order all matter, and we’re always happy to help you think through the best timing.
The Detail People Often Forget: Where You Put the Booth
After more than 1,500 events, one thing we’ve learnt is that where you position your photo booth can be just as important as which booth you choose.
A fantastic booth tucked away in a separate room can easily be missed. Put it naturally where your guests are already gathering and it becomes part of the celebration.
At weddings, somewhere close to the bar or main evening reception can often work brilliantly, depending on the venue. At corporate events, visibility and guest flow are just as important.
This is also where knowing venues can really help. We work regularly across Hampshire and the surrounding counties and are recommended or partnered with by more than 30 venues. When we already know a venue, we can often advise on areas that have worked well before. When it is somewhere new, we can work with you and the venue on access, space, power and positioning.
Do You Need a Backdrop?
A backdrop isn’t just decoration behind the booth – it becomes part of every photograph.
That means it is worth choosing something that complements your event. You might want elegant and understated, glamorous and sparkly, floral, or something that ties in with your wedding colours or corporate branding.
Party Delights Photo Booth offers a range of standard and premium backdrops, including sequin and shimmer options, with selected neon signs available too. A well-chosen backdrop can make the finished gallery feel much more considered and connected to the rest of your styling.
Want Something Beyond a Traditional Photo Booth?
Photo booth hire has moved a long way beyond simply standing in front of a camera.
Our 360 Video Booth creates energetic, shareable video clips and is brilliant for weddings, parties, Christmas celebrations and corporate events. If you want a polished monochrome look, our Black & White Glam Booth creates a completely different style of experience.
For events where you really want to make an entrance, our Glambot creates dramatic slow-motion footage using a robotic camera arm. And our AI Photo Experiences can transform a guest into anything from a caricature or watercolour portrait to a magazine-style cover, album artwork or a completely bespoke concept.
For corporate events and brand activations, this opens up some particularly exciting possibilities because the experience can be designed around your campaign rather than simply having a logo added afterwards.
What Should You Look for When Choosing a Photo Booth Company?
Look beyond the booth itself.
Ask about experience, reviews, what is included, setup arrangements, insurance, personalisation, image delivery and whether the company understands professional venues and event timings.
You are trusting a supplier to arrive, set up and deliver an experience on a day that matters to you. For a wedding, there is no second attempt next Saturday. For a corporate event, the supplier is representing part of the experience your guests associate with your company.
Party Delights Photo Booth has been creating wedding, party and corporate experiences since 2017. We’ve now attended more than 1,500 events, have over 200 five-star reviews and are recommended or partnered with by more than 30 venues.
We think that experience should make your planning easier. Tell us what you’re organising and we can help you decide which experience, timing and setup makes sense rather than simply trying to sell you the biggest package.

Frequently Asked Questions About Photo Booth Hire
How far in advance should you book a photo booth?
Once your date and venue are confirmed, it is worth booking early if a photo booth is something you definitely want. Popular Saturdays, peak wedding dates and Christmas party dates can fill well in advance.
How much space does a photo booth need?
It depends on the experience. An open photo booth needs room for the booth, guests and backdrop, while our 360 Video Booth typically needs around a 3m x 3m clear area. Larger experiences such as our Glambot have different requirements.
Do photo booths need an attendant?
Some do and some don’t. Our Printing Photo Booth is attended, while our All-Day Digital Photo Booth is designed to operate unattended. We’ll explain exactly what is included with the experience you choose.
Can a photo booth be personalised for a wedding or corporate event?
Yes. Depending on the experience, personalisation can include names and wedding dates, photo templates, digital overlays, screens, backdrops and corporate branding.
Can guests receive their photos digitally?
Yes. Our digital experiences allow guests to receive and share their creations digitally, subject to the experience and venue connectivity.
Do you provide photo booth hire outside Hampshire?
Yes. We’re based in Basingstoke, Hampshire and regularly provide photo booth experiences across Berkshire, Surrey, Wiltshire, West Sussex and the wider South of England.
